The United States on Wednesday, escalated the Yemen file, on the eve of anticipation of a breakthrough in the region after the signing of the Iran-Saudi Arabia agreement.
The spokesman for the US Department of Defense, John Kirby, said that his country continues to provide Saudi Arabia with weapons to defend itself.
This comes on the eve of the US State Department’s announcement that the US envoy, Tim Lenderking, has started a tour in the region that includes Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
According to the State Department statement, Lenderking will discuss reaching a new agreement and urge donors to support efforts in the region.
The American moves come at the rhythm of an improvement in the climate of the relationship in the region after Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a new normalization agreement under Chinese auspices, which indicates that the new American efforts aim to feel the pulse of the peace process, including in Yemen, and to remain in the scene in light of the efforts to remove it.
