An American officer was killed, on Friday, by Yemeni soldiers loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Shabwa province, east of the capital, Sana’a.

A source in Saudi-backed government said that the American officer was killed in Mourah camp after he separated the loudspeakers while performing the Friday prayer by elements of the UAE-sponsored “Giants Forces”.
It is not known whether the American officer is a special force or contractors with the Pentagon, but his presence in the camp alongside pro-coalition forces raises new questions about the mission of American soldiers in Yemen.
The source confirmed that an American plane landed in the camp to evacuate the killed officer.
In May 2018, the New York Times revealed that the Pentagon Special Forces help the Saudis secretly fight the Houthis’ forces.
The newspaper stated that about 12 members of the green hats arrived at the borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Yemen, in a continuous escalation of the secret American wars.
The American Wall Street Journal reported in March 2018 that the US Special Operations Forces along with their counterparts from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates at a secret base in eastern Yemen, according to current and former US officials.
