Sana’a: America and Israel utilize humanitarian aid as a tool for politicization

The WFP’s humanitarian aid program in areas under the authority of the Sana’a government has been suspended, according to the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sana’a, for reasons related to the American stance on Yemeni attacks against Israel.

In a post on the “X” platform, Jamal Al-Ashwal, the Director-General of Media at the Council, stated that the program’s decision validates that it is only a tool in the hands of America and Israel, using humanitarian aid as a method of politicization.

He clarified the facts surrounding the politicized decision of the program, which was made under the orders of Washington due to Sana’a’s supportive stance of the Palestinian people, and refuted claims of a funding shortage by pointing out that the WFP had $1.16 billion in funding until last September—a $60 million increase over the previous year.

While continuing to provide aid in areas controlled by the government loyal to the coalition, the WFP had previously announced the complete suspension of food assistance to areas under Sana’a’s control, citing funding shortages and the depletion of their food stocks in Sana’a-controlled areas as justifications.
