UNICEF warns of ‘imminent new disaster’

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned on Monday that about 600,000 Palestinian children in Rafah are threatened with a “new imminent disaster” and called for not “evacuating them by force”.

The organization said in a statement: “Due to the concentration of a large number of children in Rafah, some of whom are extremely vulnerable and barely resilient, and given the expected scale of violence with evacuation corridors littered with mines and unexploded ordnance, UNICEF is warning of a new imminent disaster for children.”

The organization called for them not to be “forcibly evacuated” at a time when the Zionist enemy forces launched an evacuation operation in the city, which the enemy insists on launching a ground offensive.

The organization warned that “military operations could lead to a large number of civilian casualties and the complete destruction of basic services and infrastructure on which they depend for their survival.”
