Withdrawal of a new US destroyer from the Red Sea following “violent” clashes

The US announced on Tuesday the withdrawal of a new destroyer from the Red Sea, following what it described as “violent” confrontations.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

American media outlets confirmed the withdrawal of the US Navy destroyer USS Carney, which was responsible for securing ships in the southern Red Sea.

The US military did not specify the reasons for the withdrawal of the Carney, which had been deployed only a few months ago, but it only highlighted the attacks it faced, which exceeded 65 attacks.

The withdrawal of the American destroyer came on the eve of a new statement by US forces revealing the details of fresh clashes in the Red Sea.

The statement indicated that the clashes lasted from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, explaining that the repeated attacks were carried out by drones and ballistic missiles, targeting ships and battleships of the American coalition.

The statement claimed that two drones and a ballistic missile were intercepted during three consecutive attacks within hours.

The statement only mentioned that there were no casualties among the coalition forces and the US forces.

It is believed that based on the announced coordinates, the attacks may have targeted the USS Carney, which is stationed in the southern Red Sea, confirming its hit.

Carney is the second US destroyer to be withdrawn from the Red Sea since the US announced the start of aggression against Yemen in January, as the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower is still undergoing maintenance after being withdrawn from the Red Sea a few days ago.
