Famine warnings in Gaza

The United Nations warned Sunday of the risk of famine in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli enemy continues to close the crossings and prevents 3,000 aid trucks from entering the territory.

U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said famine in northern Gaza was imminent.

He stressed that the people of Gaza are facing an unbearable crisis in light of the closure of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings and the failure to provide aid to the northern Gaza Strip.

The government media office in the Gaza Strip said the Israeli enemy was preventing the entry of 3,000 aid trucks and preventing 690 sick and wounded from traveling for treatment.

He added that the occupation is closing Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings for the 13th day, compounding the humanitarian crisis.
