The first crossing of a large cargo ship in the Red Sea since Sana’a’s ban on “Israeli” navigation in support of Gaza

The French mega-container ship “Benjamin Franklin” is preparing to cross the Red Sea, in a move considered the first of its kind in nearly two years, since the Yemeni forces imposed the ban on “Israeli” navigation and on companies dealing with the occupation in support of Gaza.

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

According to a report issued by the British platform “Lloyd’s List Intelligence,” which specializes in maritime navigation affairs, the ship, belonging to the French company “CMA CGM” and flying the Maltese flag, is currently preparing to transit the Suez Canal on its return journey to Asia.

The platform added that the ship, with a capacity of approximately 17,859 standard containers, is likely to become the first ship operating within the Asia-Europe commercial alliance to cross this route since regional tensions escalated.

This comes after nearly two years during which most international shipping lines avoided the Red Sea route, following the measures imposed by the Sana’a forces, which announced a ban on maritime navigation for Israeli ships or those dealing with Israeli ports in support of the Palestinian cause.
