The Ministry of Health in Gaza warns of the deteriorating health system

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza warned that the health situation in the Strip has reached a critical and unprecedented stage, due to the continued imposition of severe restrictions by the Israeli occupation on the entry of humanitarian aid and supplies.

Difficulty in Aid Entry

The health official stated that the occupation is pursuing what he described as a “drip-feed policy” regarding the entry of aid, noting that the relief shipments allowed in cover only a limited percentage of the actual needs of hospitals and medical centers. He explained that the occupation continues to prevent the entry of essential medicines and medical supplies despite the dire need for them, which has exacerbated the crisis in intensive care units and emergency departments. He added that stocks of vital medical supplies, such as heart and kidney medications and antibiotics, are on the verge of complete depletion.

The Gaza health director pointed out that the occupation is even preventing the entry of nutritional supplements for children, which threatens the lives of thousands of children suffering from malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies, especially in areas devastated by the ongoing bombardment. He stressed that the humanitarian and health situation in the sector has gone beyond the danger stage, calling on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to pressure the occupation to immediately open the crossings for the entry of aid without restrictions. He also demanded the need to open the crossings for the urgent medical evacuation of critical cases that cannot be treated inside Gaza, warning that the continuation of the closure means a significant increase in death rates in the coming days.
