GPC demands removal of Hadi

The General People’s Congress (GPC) Party’s bloc abroad announced its rejection of the recent decisions issued by Exiled president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, including the appointment of the “Shura Council Speaker” in the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition.

In a statement issued by the General Committee, the GPC described those decisions as violations and abuses of all recent agreements, including the Riyadh Agreement.

The statement also called for correcting the path of “legitimacy” starting with the restructuring of “the head of legitimacy, which has become a knife in the side of the nation,” referencing to the exiled president Hadi.

Hadi, who has been residing in Riyadh for six years, issued several decisions; including appointing Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher, the former prime minister, as speaker of the Shura Council, despite his dismissal from his post and referring him to investigation at the end of 2018.

For his part, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) refused on Saturday appointing “Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher” as head of the Shura Council in the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government in Aden city.

Ali Al-Kathiri, the spokesman of the STC, said on Twitter, that Hadi’s unilateral decisions represent a dangerous and clear escalation, which is considered a torpedoing of the Riyadh agreement.

He indicated that the Presidency of the STC would study the decree and announced its official position soon.
