Sana’a Holds UN Responsible for Disaster Caused Safer Oil Tanker

Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, Member of the Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, called on the United Nations to implement the maintenance agreement for the Safer oil Tanker, which stores more than one million barrels of crude off the coast of Hodeidah province, blaming it for any environmental disaster.

Commenting on the resumption of navigation in the Egyptian Suez Canal, Mohammed al-Houthi said on Twitter: “We congratulate Egypt and maritime navigation on the return of the Suez Canal to its work.”

He added: “We call on the United Nations to implement the Safar agreement.  If the vessel explodes, there would an environmental disaster and the world will stop not only for a week like in Suez, but everything will stop for a short time.”

He continued: “It will stop with the navigation of military and other barges; we hold them responsible.”

On Wednesday, The National Salvation Government’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi accused the United Nations of “repeated delays for the US expert team’s arrival in the Safer oil Tanker “.
