Griffiths Informs “Group of Nine” of “Critical” Situation for Yemeni Negotiations

The UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, revealed the most prominent contents of the international meeting that the German capital hosted during the past Days regarding Yemen.

In a tweet on his official page on social media, Griffiths indicated that he asked the participants in the televised social, in which high-ranking officials from the five permanent members of the Security Council, along with Germany, Kuwait, Sweden and the European Union, participated the full support for the negotiations.

He also described the status of the negotiations as “critical”, referring to the recent military escalation in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, in conjunction with blocking the political solution horizon during the negotiations that are being held with international participation in the Omani capital, Muscat, for weeks.

Griffiths had arrived with the American envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, earlier to participate in the international meeting, through which he sought pressure to reduce the escalation, which in recent days reached its peak and threatens to a wider confrontation in the coming days, in conjunction to the Saudi Arabia’s refusal to end the blockade, which caused the biggest humanitarian disaster in the modern era, according to the description of international organizations.
