The director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shaif, confirmed, on Thursday, that the final arrangements have been completed to reopen Sana’a international airport.

This coincides with the anticipation to Saudi Arabia’s announcement around lifting the siege on the airport and Hodeida port, as part of international efforts to push for an end to the seven-year-old Saudi-led coalition war.
Al-Shaef said in a series of tweets on his official page on social media that he had met earlier with the director of Yemeni Oil Company, Ammar Al-Adrai, to discuss the readiness of the aircraft catering department, a day after he was received at the airport by the acting Chairman of the Yemeni Airlines Council, Abdul-Malik Mutaher and Ali Al-Shami.
Al-Shaif explained that the discussion focused on the facilities readiness, equipment, and maintenance facilities.
Al-Shaif said in a press statement that the airport, which received three international flights on Wednesday, is ready to receive civil and commercial flights. Meanwhile, a source in the Yemeni company in Aden stated that it had received instructions from the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Sana’a to prepare for arranging flights from the international airport, which has been closed for more than five years.
The movement at Sana’a Airport comes with an international movement to open the airport as part of a humanitarian plan that includes opening of Hodeida port as well, that paves the way for negotiations on the military and political files.
