Informed sources affirmed on Saturday that Abo Dhabi issued new cards instead of the national identity card for citizens in Socotra Island, Yemen Press Agency said.
The sources revealed that the new cards that similar to the Emirates identity were issued by the Emirati “Khalifa” Foundation, located in Socotra under the guise of facilitating the distribution of humanitarian aid.
The sources said that the UAE troops are now only dealing with these cards, while Yemenis considered it an obliteration of the Yemeni identity.
