Houthis Welcome UN Secretary-General’s Decision to Appoint New Envoy to Yemen

Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sana’a government Hisham Sharaf welcomed on Saturday the appointment of Hans Grundberg as the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy to Yemen.

The Foreign Minister said in a statement to Saba that he wished the new UN envoy to Yemen Grundberg success in his new post, ending the Saudi “aggression” and lifting the comprehensive blockade that caused the worst human-made humanitarian disaster.

He stressed the need to put the opening of Sana’a International Airport and prevent the entry of ships loaded with oil derivatives, domestic gas, and commercial goods to the port of Hodeida on top of the topics to be addressed by the new envoy, in preparation for moving towards arrangements for a comprehensive ceasefire and the start of peace negotiations to achieve a comprehensive political settlement in the interest of the Yemeni people, achieve security and stability, lift the suffering of millions of Yemenis and restore Yemen’s sovereignty over all its territory.
