The Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC) has revealed the departure of one of the fuel ships that had been detained by Saudi coalition, after it was unable to arrive to unload its cargo of diesel for more than eight months.
The official spokesman for the YPC, Issam Al-Mutawakil, said that ship Voss Spirit, which was loaded with urgently needed diesel, was forced to leave the detention area after having been held by Saudi piracy for a total of 262 days, and made its way to a destination outside Yemen.
Al-Mutawakil explained that the Voss Spirit was loaded with approximately thirty thousand tons of diesel, and was authorised by the United Nations to reach the port of Hodeidah.
The Saudi coalition continues these acts of piracy, by detaining fuel ships and preventing them from entering the port of Hodeidah, despite obtaining permits from the UN, which aggravates the humanitarian catastrophe due to the suspension of many vital service sectors, especially hospitals and the electricity and water sector.
