Sana’a calls for Speedy Implementation to Outcomes of Security Council

The Supreme Economic Committee of Sana’a called for speedy implementation to the recommendations of the Security Council, related to lifting the restrictions imposed on Hodeida port and lifting the ban imposed on Sana’a airport by the Saudi-Emirati coalition.

The committee confirmed its readiness to work immediately with UNICEF or others, whatever leads to the neutralization of the economic aspect, in the forefront is the payment of state employees’ salaries, reiterating its call to the United Nations to fulfill its responsibilities towards the Yemeni people, and dealing with the economic file with the required seriousness, according to the statement.

The economic committee of Sana’a called also for binding the Saudi-Emirati coalition that is waging war on Yemen, “to fully lift the siege, stop using the economy as a means of pressure and bargaining, and separate the humanitarian side from the political and military side.”

The Security Council held a session on Monday to discuss the economic situation in Yemen, most of the countries participating in the session, as well as representatives of the international organizations of the United Nations, unanimously agreed that Yemen is under an economic blockade, and the blockade should be lifted by lifting the restrictions imposed on Hodeida port and lifting the ban imposed on Sana’a airport.
