Tribes Fall “Legitimacy” in Most Prominent Oil Regions in East of Yemen

Hadhramaut tribes strengthened on Saturday, their grip on oil areas, east of Yemen, in a move that may precipitate the vanishing of “legitimate” Hadi government, which faces a new impasse with “Houthis” approach to tighten control over the neighboring city of Marib.

Exclusive-Alkhabar Alyemeni:

The Sanaa tribes in the Som, Hariz, and Al-Murra districts have pushed large reinforcements during the past hours to points set up by the tribes’ armed men, at the entrances and exits of the oil province to prevent the export of oil since three days ago, while tribal sources expected to push more reinforcements to separate areas on the borders of the province, specifically in the oil plateau in Alwadi and the desert, with the threat of Ali Mohsen, the deputy of “legitimacy” authority that he will forcibly raise the points holding fuel locomotives.

Tribal armed men, backed by Transitional Council, succeeded in stopping the export and production of oil, paralyzing the military capacity of “legitimacy” what facilitates announcing the province that STC has been unable to make progress in its accession to Aden, and end the “legitimacy” there.

The conflict has escalated between “legitimacy” factions in the most important oil provinces, east of Yemen, which threatens to drag Hadhramaut into the quagmire of war on Yemen that has raged for seven years.

“Legitimacy” led by Hadi and Mohsen, has summoned their most important cards in the province, that has been out of control over the past two days amid indications of a tendency to cut their last artery.

On the political level, Hadi announced his rejection to the resignation of Amr bin Habrish, the first deputy governor of Hadhramaut, who had submitted his resignation about a month and a half ago without justifying the reasons.

According to observers, this step considered an attempt to bring back Bin Habrish, who is the most important figure in Hadhramaut to preside over Hadhramaut Inclusive Conference and the Tribal Alliance, in an attempt to split Hadhramaut tribes, which began to rally around gunmen loyal to the transitional, they decided to close the province’s outlets three days ago, or at least besiege the opponents of “legitimacy” in anticipation to a military operation against them.

On the military front, Ali Mohsen, according to tribal sources, threatened sheikhs of Al-Jaber and another loyal to the transitional that he will take a military option to raise the points by force.

These moves indicate to “legitimacy” that relies on Hadhramaut oil to finance its operations from the capital, Riyadh feels a danger coming that may end its presence on the map, especially in light of Saudi efforts to replace its leaders with others loyal to UAE, which means giving STC a green light to resolve the oil file in Hadhramaut, within the framework of Saudi arrangements for a peace agreement from two regions, south and north.

“Legitimacy” faces an ambiguous future in this province, which is its last stronghold, especially with Petro Masila , Hadi’s most important oil production and export company, announcement on its production halt due to the fullness of its tanks, and its inability to absorb more production in light of the blockade imposed by the tribes’ militants on oil exports, and prevent his locomotives from leaving the province.

On the other hand, the transitional council calling for secession called on Hadhramaut tribes to escalate their steps by closing port of Al-Dhaba, in reference to the ban on the export of Hadhramaut oil by sea. Any step in this direction would deprive “legitimacy” that sells two shipments for two weeks, with an average of two million barrels per shipment of its most important resources, which means transferring the battle to this province that during the past years of the war has been outside the equation due to the influence of “legitimacy” with Saudi support.
