U.S. Envoy to Yemen Heads to Gulf to Discuss Peace Efforts

U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, will visit the Gulf states this week to discuss and revitalize peace efforts in Yemen, according to the US State Department’s statement on Wednesday.

The ministry’s statement said that Lenderking would seek “to press for stopping the military escalation, and using the new year to participate fully in a comprehensive peace process led by the United Nations.”

The envoy would also focus on “the urgent need to address the dire humanitarian and economic crises that Yemenis are facing.”

The visit comes after a number of attacks carried out by the Anssarallah movement’s missile forces on UAE’s vital sites, while Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched a series of strikes on civilians in the capital, Sana’a.
