British Attempt to Neutralize America in Yemen

Britain entered the conflict line in Yemen politically, in an attempt to neutralize American efforts to allocate the Yemeni file, which the United Kingdom holds its pen in the Security Council.

The British Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverly, said that he had a meeting with the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, and discussed with him support for the efforts of the international envoy to Yemen, Hans Grodenberg.

The meeting of the British minister and the American envoy comes in parallel to another meeting brought together the Minister Cleverly and the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, it was devoted to discussing the common goal of the two countries in the region, according to Cleverly, in a tweet on his social networking site.

Two days ago, Britain sent its ambassador to Yemen, Richard Oppenheim, to Aden, as part of attempts to unite the pro-coalition factions, which Saudi Arabia is counting on to create pressure in the north towards pushing for a political settlement in Yemen that will save its face, and get it out of the war quagmire whose fires are burning the coalition countries themselves.

The move also indicates at this time when international and regional parties began to move politically in Yemen file, to Britain’s attempt to remain in the Yemeni scene after the United States succeeded in excluding it in part, by removing the former envoy, Martin Griffiths.
