Gunmen affiliated with tribes loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) surrounded the oilfields in Masila area of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, local sources said on Saturday.
The sources indicated that the gunmen were stationed near the Masila oil facility gate and prevented the exit of petrol trailers from it.
These moves come in conjunction with the outbreak of demonstrations and protests in the streets of Mukalla and Sayoun cities in the province, calling for the exit of the forces of the “First Military Region” affiliated with Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition from the oil plateau.
