Sana’a Initiative to Suspend Military Operations… True Embodiment for Peace

The initiative launched by President of Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, Mahdi al-Mashat, in his speech on the National Day of Steadfastness, was an extension of Sana’a’s previous initiatives to bring peace and restore security and stability to Yemen.

There is no doubt that the announcement by President Al-Mashat, of the suspension of missile strikes and all military actions towards Saudi Arabia by land, sea and air for three days unilaterally, is a step in the right direction.

In view of the events and the data of the stage imposed by reality, the initiative of President Al-Mashat, to emphasize that Sana’a is keen on peace and injecting the blood of Yemenis and alleviating their suffering, while the objectives of the invitations and initiatives that come from here and there do not lead to a peace that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people to stop the war, lift the blockade, and lift hegemony and guardianship from the Yemeni decision.

Al-Mashat’s initiative represents a road map to correct the situation in Yemen, as confirmed by the leader of the revolution, al-Sayyed Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, is in the interest of the Yemeni people, primarily the people of Marib province.

Al-Mashat’s initiative not only suspended missiles and airstrikes against Saudi Arabia but also included the cessation of offensive operations on all fronts on the ground and the full readiness to release all coalition prisoners, including Hadi’s brother and local prisoners.

The initiative also gains great importance in humanitarian issues by ensuring the release of all prisoners from both sides.

Al-Mashat’s initiative did not lose sight of the role of the United Nations in relation to prisoners by calling on the Un envoy to arrange procedures and facilitate the exchange of statements and agreements to ensure the total release of all prisoners on both sides.

The Government of Sana’a confirmed reaching a just peace that guarantees the Yemeni people security, stability, sovereignty and independence, by calling on President Al-Mashat the Saudi Coalition and the international community to deal with the peace file in Yemen.

Considering the continuation of the blockade, the detention of fuel vessels and the denial of the most basic human and legal rights to the Yemeni people, President Al-Mashat considered these practices unnecessary and contrary to the requirements of peace.

Sana’a initiative and repeated calls for peace come, in order to ensure the leadership of the revolution and the Supreme Political Council on the importance of peace and to call on everyone to stop the methods that do not serve peace.

Hence, President Al-Mashat’s initiative did not come from a position of weakness but came 24 hours after the third siege by the Yemeni armed forces.

According to a statement issued by the presidency of the House of Representatives in Sana’a, the ball is now in the crosshairs of coalition countries, including Saudi Arabia, if the intentions are true in ensuring peace in Yemen.

The joint meeting parties and the southern movement’s component participating in the National Dialogue Conference also blessed The President’s initiative to suspend military operations in all its forms.

The joint meeting parties and the southern movement component called on the coalition countries to capture this initiative and deal with it positively.
