Al-Mashat Urges UN Envoy to Work for Success Truce Efforts in Yemen

President of pro-Houthis Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, Mahdi al-Mashat, met on Tuesday with UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg and his accompanying team.

In the meeting, President Al-Mashat stressed the need for the UN envoy and his team to work in the right direction for the success of the agreed efforts in accordance with the armistice that included the opening of Sana’a International Airport and Hodeida ports, lifting the siege and putting pressure on the Saudi coalition countries to fulfill their humanitarian obligations.

According to Saba news agency, Al-Mashat said that thousands of patients are waiting for the moment when Sana’a airport is opened so that they can travel for treatment.

“The initiative of the Republic of Yemen confirmed our desire for peace, contrary to the allegations of the Saudi coalition, which was claiming that we reject it,” he said.

He added, “If the coalition countries, led by the USA, want peace with the continuation of the siege, this is what we will not accept as it is a form of surrender, and an insult that we and our people will not accept.”
