First Confrontations between Sana’a and American Patrols in Red Sea

The coasts of Yemen on the Red Sea witnessed on Monday, the most violent confrontations between the forces of Sana’a and the coalition led by the United States, it is the first of its kind, which foreshadows an upcoming naval battle in light of the mobilizations there.

Media sources reported that clashes erupted earlier today between military patrols of Sana’a forces and others loyal to the coalition near the coast of Hodeida on the Red Sea.
The extent of the losses is not yet known, but the sources confirmed the withdrawal of the coalition boats after some of them caught fire and a number of those on board fell.
The confrontations come with the United States beginning to conduct patrols in this strategic area close to the most important international strait in Bab al-Mandab.
US Navy announced earlier on Sunday the deployment of coalition naval patrols, which includes more than 35 countries led by the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
The patrols spread in the territorial waters of Yemen, from the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to the Arabian Sea.
The American deployment coincides with Saudi Arabia’s return the Yemeni forces loyal to it to Aden, this portends a new escalation that may develop into a naval battle that Sana’a, mentioned before by more than one official.
