Britain revealed officially, the identity of its spy, who released as part of a deal between the coalition and Sana’a, led by the Sultanate of Oman.
The British government held an unprecedented celebration for the release of Luke Simmons, the British Foreign Secretary confirmed in a tweet on social media that arrangements had begun to reunite him with his family, noting her appreciation for the efforts made for his release.
Simmons is one of 14 prisoners who were released in a deal led by an Omani delegation visiting Sana’a a few days ago.
Simmons was captured in 2017, while conducting espionage work for Britain, as directed by the public prosecution in Sana’a.
The Sultanate of Oman announced on Sunday, the success of its delegation in concluding a new deal between Sana’a and the coalition.
The Omani Foreign Ministry reported that the deal included the release of 14 foreign prisoners, including two Britons. Noting that the foreigners transferred to the Sultanate of Oman in coordination with the coalition.
The Sultanate, whose delegation arrived in Sana’a a few days ago, did not reveal more details of the deal. While media close to “Houthis” spoke that the released crew was the crew Emirati military cargo ship, which was seized by Sana’a forces months ago during its transit with a Saudi arms shipment off the western coast of Yemen.
Among the ship’s crew are Indians, Indonesians and others from the Philippines, as well as Emirati and Saudi officers.
