Among 30,000 Patients Needed Treatment Abroad, 12 Cases Died

The Head of Supreme Medical Committee in Sana’a, Dr. Mutahar al-Darweesh, has revealed that 12 patients have died within 30 days since the armistice entered into force while awaiting the conduct of the alleged flights promised by the United Nations and the Saudi coalition.

Head of the Medical Committee expressed regret that the Saudi coalition had disassociated itself from the opening of Sana’a airport in accordance with the truce announced by the United Nations for two months, despite the expiration of the half-term, and that Sana’a airport was still closed to patients and humanitarian situations.

In the meantime, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health in the Sana’a government, Dr. Najeeb Al-Qubati, on Sunday announced the death of 12 patients who were registered to travel for treatment outside Yemen in accordance with the UN armistice agreement.

Dr. Al-Qubati confirmed in a press statement, said that about 30,000 incurable patients urgently need to travel abroad to receive treatment, pointing out that two flights per week, as decided in the armistice agreement, are not enough to save the lives of patients.

He pointed out that the Saudi-led coalition countries’ repudiation of the implementation of the armistice agreement is a crime that has humanitarian repercussions, stressing that the coalition deliberately increases the suffering of the Yemeni people in light of the UN silence.

The spokesman stated that the health sector needs to modernize medical equipment and introduce some materials and supplies.

The disavowal by the Saudi-led coalition states of the implementation of the armistice on Sana’a International Airport was considered a heinous crime against humanity and life because the false scorpion promises and closure of the airport caused the death of a number of patients scheduled to travel through the first commercial flight from the airport to the Jordanian capital of Amman.
