Female Yemeni Journalist Abducted in Marib

Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms said that the Saudi-backed forces in Marib city have abducted the journalist Naziha Nasser Ali al-Junaid.

In a statement carried out by the Official News Agency of Yemen (Saba), the organization noted that the so-called ‘National Army’ kidnapped journalist Naziha al-Junaid upon her arrival in Marib.

According to the organization, journalist Naziha al-Junaid was kidnapped and taken to the notorious political security prison while she was in Marib to obtain a passport.

The organization documented the abduction of journalist Naziha in early January 2021.

The journalist al-Junaid was reportedly a mother of five. She is from Raymah province, who worked as a journalist. She decided to travel to Cairo for treatment, with a group of women and tried to obtain a passport from Marib because the Saudi-led coalition prevents travel through The Seiyun airport with passports issued from Sana’a.

According to the sources, six months after the kidnapping, the women who were with the journalist al-Junaid went out and informed her children of the fate of their mother.

The organization called on the United Nations and all organizations concerned with the protection of human rights and press freedoms to intervene and put pressure on the coalition-backed authorities in Marib to release al-Junaid and all the abductees in those prisons.

The organization condemned this crime and considered it is a flagrant violation of the freedom of the press and journalists.
