UN Envoy Announces Extension of Humanitarian Truce for Two Months

The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced on Thursday that an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian and military truce for two additional months.

A press statement by the Office of the UN Envoy indicated that the renewed truce will enter into force when the current truce expires today, June 2, at 7 pm (Yemen local time).

Grundberg pledged to work with the parties to implement and consolidate the elements of the armistice in full and to move towards a sustainable political solution that meets the aspirations and demands of the Yemenis.

He pointed out that the truce was extended in accordance with the provisions of the same original agreement, which entered into force on April 2, 2022.
