Mukalla: Angry Protests Cut off Main Streets

Dozens of angry protesters closed Wednesday most of the main streets in Mukalla city, the capital of the Yemeni eastern oil-rich Hadramout province, controlled by authorities loyal to Saudi-led government.

Local sources told Yemen press agency that a number of main streets were closed with stones and damaged tires were set on fire, in protest of the deterioration of public services and the continuing power cuts with the high summer heat, which doubled the suffering of the people.

The sources stated that popular anger prevails in Mukalla, amid the pro-coalition authorities’ ignoring of the citizens’ demands to provide basic service in the city.
