UN Expresses Concern over Cases of Torture Practiced by UAE in Yemen

United Nations expressed on Saturday its concern over the increasing cases of torture practiced by the UAE forces and its armed factions in Yemen.

Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights held the UAE forces responsible for investigating crimes of torture and ill-treatment of detainees.

In a statement, Bachelet indicated that it had received reports of new cases of torture in Emirati prisons run in Yemen.

Since the Emirati forces took control of southern Yemen within the Saudi-led war coalition in 2016, dozens of international reports have been published on violations in prisons belonging to the Emirati forces and loyal factions, specifically in Aden, Hadramout and the western coast.
