Back Home, 66 Yemeni Fishermen Released from Eritrean Prisons

A group of 66 fishermen who were detained by the Eritrean authorities, have arrived on Sunday at the fishing port of Hodeida city, YPA reported.

The Eritrean authorities had earlier arrested the fishermen in the Yemeni territorial waters of the Red Sea.

Director of Ports and Fish Landing Centers at the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea Aziz Al-Otaini said that the authorities in Hodeida have given financial aid to the fishermen, who returned to their villages and areas.

Al-Otaini denounced the continued violations and inhumane practices against the fishermen in the Yemeni territorial waters.

For their part, the fishermen confirmed that have been severely tortured, abused and forced to work in prisons and detention centers in Eritrea, whether in Fatima berth, Ottiwah area, or Asab Waad prisons.
