Resignations Hit Presidential Council in Aden

A journalist in the pro-coalition backed government revealed a succession of resignations from the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, in protest against the empowerment of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia for the sake of taking over Shabwah province, southeastern Yemen.

Nabil al-Assidi, official in the Journalists’ Syndicate, said that Sultan al-Arada submitted his resignation from the Council following the resignation of Abdullah al-Alimi, who is also a member in the council, in a protest against the Shabwah events and practices of Aidarous al-Zubaidi and the STC.

Abdullah al-Alimi, affiliated with the Islah paty, resigned from the council following events in Shabwa province.

Political sources said that Abdullah al-Alimi, who was the director of Hadi’s office, had resigned in a protest against the situation in Shabwa, the elimination of military and security forces Islah and empowering of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias.

The sources added that the resignation came after great anger from the leaders of the Islah party over the events in Ataq.

Other sources reported that Othman Majali submitted his resignation from the membership of the council as well.

He pointed out that there are intensive meetings to persuade them to refrain from resigning.
