Battles Erupt between Marib Tribes and Pro-Coalition Forces

The city of Marib witnessed new confrontations on Sunday between the tribe of Governor loyal to Saudi-led coalition, Sultan Al-Arada and factions supported by the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Southern media, quoting tribal sources, reported that clashes, described as the most violent, erupted between the armed men of “Al Fujij” tribe, to which Al-Arada belongs, and armed groups affiliated with his most prominent opponent, Mufreh Buhaibah, commander of the so-called “Baihan axis”.

The confrontations erupted after groups loyal to Buhaibah and have just come from Al-Anad base in Lahj province tried to create sites near “the Temple of the Sun”, which are the areas of Al-Fujij and are located near the oil fields.

Buhaibah’s move indicates his efforts to begin encircling the strongholds of Sultan al-Arada, who is still detained in Saudi Arabia as a member of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, in preparation for a decision to dismiss him from his position as governor of Marib.
