Saudi Arabia pushed on Tuesday, with Russian mediation, in Yemen, coinciding with the failure of UN and US efforts to extend the armistice, amid Saudi fears of a return to the military escalation of the scene.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Varchin, arrived in the Iranian capital earlier today.
According to Iranian media, the meeting was devoted to discussing several files, most notably the Yemeni, who took a wide space in the meeting, who gathered two workshops with the senior assistant of the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Asghar Khaji.
According to these sources, Khaji stressed on the need to adhere the obligations of the ceasefire addressing the payment of salaries, lifting the siege on the Yemeni people, and pushing for a comprehensive political solution.
The Russian move came on the eve of UN envoy’s announcement to the conclusion of his tour in the region without any significant progress in the path to extending the armistice, which ended on the second of this month.
Hans Grodenberg indicated in a tweet on his official page on social networking sites that he met during his last tour with the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad AlJaber, and the ambassadors of the permanent members of the Security Council.
The US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, who visited UAE and Saudi Arabia earlier revealed negotiations to extend the armistice.
The two envoys did not announce any results for their last tour, which reflects the failure to extend the armistice, despite the optimism expressed by the UN envoy in his last tweet.
