The Southern Transitional Council (STC) -the de facto authority in Aden- southern Yemen, a nationalized new government headquarters, on Wednesday.

Late on Tuesday evening, the UAE-backed council factions took control of the headquarters of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate.

A statement by the Syndicate indicated that the STC’s factions took down a banner for the Syndicate and replaced it with the Southern Journalists Syndicate, calling on the Al-Alimi authority to use it.

On the other hand, the Southern Journalists Syndicate described this move as restoring the main headquarters.

In a statement to its members, the new union congratulated the new victory, indicating its decision to open the door to membership.

The STC had recently supported the establishment of a new entity called the Southern Journalists Syndicate and financed its first conference, despite the withdrawals and division that the conference caused among the southern elites, and ended with the recommendation of a new captain for it.

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate in Aden is one of several media institutions that were taken over by the Transitional Council factions, most notably the Saba Agency, which had previously been converted into a headquarters for the Media Authority of the Transitional Council.
