British efforts to legislate a new proposal for a solution in Yemen

After the admission by its ambassador of a fresh vision for a solution based on a two-state solution, Britain launched intense international efforts on the Yemeni situation on Tuesday.

“Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni”:

The United Kingdom launched a strategic dialogue with UAE, which supports factions calling for the separation of southern Yemen.

Yemen was reportedly one of the files discussed at the meeting between the Emirati Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed, and the British Minister of State for Middle Eastern Affairs, James Cleverly.

According to diplomatic sources, London has started taking steps in the UN Security Council’s corridors to back a fresh proposal for a Yemen solution.

The proposal calls for the creation of two states—one in the south and one in the north—along with a deal on resource sharing between Sana’a and Aden.

Richard Oppenheim, the British ambassador to Yemen, stated in a news conference that his country is preparing to contribute to the Security Council by supporting a solution in Yemen that includes agreement on economic and political issues, the most prominent of which is the Southern issue.

Britain is fully supporting the separation of southern Yemen, which it previously controlled for more than a century.
