To prevent them from avoiding punishment, the Ministry of Human Rights demanded that the aggression alliance’s commanders and their collaborators, who tortured prisoners and detainees, be brought to trial.
The American Saudi-Emirati-British aggression alliance and their accomplices are still committing the worst forms of torture and other inhumane acts prohibited by international law against the Yemeni people as well as against prisoners and detainees in their prisons, according to the ministry in a statement on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, which United Nations institutions celebrate.
In Marib, Aden, and other occupied areas, the ministry noted that thousands of prisoners, detainees, and expatriates remain imprisoned there. They are subjected to the most severe forms of psychological and physical torture, deprivation of the most basic human rights, prohibition from receiving treatment and visits, solitary confinement, and other crimes committed by the aggression alliance.
It reaffirmed that the torture to which the detainees are subjected by the Aggression Coalition and its accomplices is a flagrant violation of international conventions, norms, laws, and human rights.
The Ministry of Human Rights demanded the creation of an independent and impartial international investigation committee to visit those prisons and identify those people who have been implicated in heinous crimes that qualify as crimes against humanity. Also denounced the continued international silence and inaction toward the disregard of the aggression alliance’s leaders and their accomplices for all applicable laws and agreements.
In order to prevent the aggression alliance, its leaders, and their collaborators involved in acts of torture from escaping punishment, the ministry emphasized the necessity for all human rights organizations to take legal action in international courts against them. Also called on the international community to take serious punitive measures against the Saudi and Emirati regimes to deter them from continuing to kill Yemeni citizens by torture.
