The Minister of Defense in the Sana’a government, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atifi, directed on Thursday to raise the combat and military readiness of the naval and coastal defense forces to levels that enable them to carry out missions to protect maritime sovereignty. This came in conjunction with the arrival of US forces accompanied by Saudi forces to the Red Sea.

During an “exceptional” meeting with a number of navy leaders in Sana’a, the commander of the coastal defense brigades, Major General Mohammed Al-Qadri, and the commander of the naval forces in Sana’a, Rear Admiral Mohammed Abdul Nabi, Major General Al-Atifi warned the “occupying Western forces, which have begun to infiltrate the region, including the occupied provinces,” saying, “The unknown awaits you.”
According to him, “Yemen is progressing with strength, confidence, and competence to develop its military capabilities in various branches of the armed forces and formations.” He pointed out that Yemen’s geography requires its armed forces to “continuously effectively keep pace with the construction and modernization of the naval forces, so that they are capable of imposing a strong Yemeni military reality in this vital region and in a position that prevents foreign interventions and firmly deters external ambitions and any attempts to impose a foreign reality under false names and slogans. Its title is to counter piracy and smuggling.”
He said, “Such methods have become exposed and reveal the suspicious goals of the international powers, including the Zionists and those who support Zionist ambitions in the region,” so whatever justifications the Western powers may have, this does not give them the right to interfere in Yemeni sovereignty or impose their influence on our regional waters.
The world is going through an exceptional stage, and the influential powers must understand that dealing in peace and with respect for the sovereignty, freedom, and independence of nations is the only way to protect all international interests in the area and around the world, the minister of defense in Sana’a added. The aggression alliance’s backers, he continued, “are aware that any rejection of the terms of the agreement will have repercussions, and they must bear the consequences.”
Rear Admiral Mansour Ahmed Al-Saadi, who is the chief of the naval staff, disclosed during the same meeting that tests had recently been carried out on “naval ballistic missiles that possess exceptional capabilities in terms of long-range distances or wide destructive capabilities against enemy targets and can be launched from any point in the Republic of Yemen.”
He confirmed that Sana’a’s forces “possess a lot of qualitative military capabilities, which are effective tools that will lead to a severe and devastating defeat of the aggression forces if they decide to engage in hostile acts in regional waters, causing them massive losses in their ships, battleships, equipment, and assets in a manner unheard of in the history of contemporary naval battles.”
According to Sana’a media outlets, Rear Admiral Al-Saadi stated that “the naval movements of the aggression forces are being monitored, and the coordinates bank is being updated around the clock.” He also confirmed that “the confrontation plan for the naval forces on the defensive and offensive levels is ready to launch and implement, awaiting only the instructions of the higher command.”
