American suspension of naval operations in Yemeni lanes

The US confirmed on Sunday its decision to suspend the operations of its ships in Yemeni shipping lanes.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The American Bloomberg Agency reports that American shipping companies received orders to divert its routes away from the Yemeni lanes, confirming that oil and gas cargo ships have already started redirecting its routes towards the Cape of Good Hope, even though sailing there will cost more and take an extra month.

The agency indicated that American cargo ships had been smoothly passing through the Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait until the end of last week. However, it suddenly decided to change its routes away from Yemen.

This US move came hours after the direct targeting of American battleships in the Red Sea.

It is unclear at this time if the step was a result of Yemeni messages or worries about the fallout from America’s Red Sea escalation, but officials in Sana’a vowed to target ships of any country participating in America’s alliance to protect Israel.

Bab Al-Mandeb Strait is the most prominent port for American gas and oil exports to the Asian market, especially Japan and South Korea, according to the American agency, especially in light of the drought and congestion in the Panama Canal, which America previously used as a fast route to reach the Asian market.
