Detention of a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden

The scope of operations for maritime navigation bans to Israel expanded on Thursday to the Gulf of Aden with the registration of a new detention operation.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The British maritime security company Embrey reported that armed individuals boarded a cargo ship while it was sailing southeast of the Somali island “Eyl,” overlooking the Gulf of Aden.

The current status of the ship is unknown.

Although the Gulf of Aden, which serves as a passage for many Israeli cargo ships that have diverted their routes via the Cape of Good Hope, has witnessed several similar operations in the past period, this is the second time that “unknown” armed individuals have managed to detain an Israeli cargo ship.

The timing of this new operation indicates an expansion of the operations beyond the Red Sea, especially as it coincides with international mobilization to pressure Sana’a to lift the blockade on Israel.
