The first American fleets leave the region, and diplomatic attempts to calm

Coinciding with an American diplomatic movement to calm down, the American fleets began departing from the Middle East on Saturday, in the wake of their defeat.

The American fleet, including the aircraft carrier USS Ford, crossed the Strait of Gibraltar in the past few hours on its way back to Virginia. Ford is one of two fleets reinforced with dozens of landings, interception, and reconnaissance ships, in addition to missile destroyers, frigates, and nuclear submarines that were sent in October as a “deterrent” force following the Al-Aqsa flood.

Ford’s withdrawal comes amid escalating operations on the Lebanese, Iraqi, Syrian, and Yemeni fronts, even though it was supposed to contain this escalation.

The withdrawal coincides with the Biden administration’s full diplomatic efforts to draw a post-confrontation map in the region, where the weaker part has emerged.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s tour in the region, according to American media reports from his companions, aims to deliver messages of calm with Iran as well as discuss the future of governance in Gaza.

According to Bloomberg, Blinken is seeking an agreement with Turkey to enhance support for the governing authority in the Gaza Strip following the Israeli withdrawal.

Blinken will also discuss increasing the entry of aid into Gaza, according to the US envoy to Yemen.

Two days after the visit of the US envoy to Lebanon to the region, where he arrived earlier in Israel and is expected to visit Beirut as well, Blinken’s tour comes.

The US envoy seeks to calm tensions on the northern Lebanese border amid mounting fears of its strong explosion following the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Saleh Al-Arouri during the bombing of Hamas’ office in the southern suburbs.

It is also expected that the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, will begin a tour in the region, during which, according to his statement, he will discuss de-escalation in the Red Sea.

These movements indicate the failure of the US to militarily exert pressure to prevent the pressure on its ally Israel and its decision to coexist with the new situation in the region imposed by the resistance factions in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq, in addition to their resilience in Gaza.
