Yemen rejects a European proposal to militarize the Red Sea

Yemen reiterated its rejection on Saturday of European efforts to militarize the Red Sea.

This comes ahead of the arrival of new European reinforcements to the region under the pretext of “protecting ships.”

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Diplomatic sources reported that the European Union informed Sana’a through the Sultanate of Oman of its intention not to engage in the American-British aggression on Yemen or participate in ground operations. They attempted to justify the deployment of a new military mission as “protecting European ships,” but the Yemeni response was a warning to Europeans about the consequences of militarizing the Red Sea.

Mohammed Al-Houthi, a member of the Political Council, the highest authority in Sana’a, confirmed in a previous interview his rejection of the militarization of the Red Sea and reiterated his warning to the European Union about the consequences of such militarization, considering it an escalation of tensions.

Al-Houthi indicated that Yemen would deal with any country that engages in protecting Israel in the Red Sea as an aggressor, calling on the European Union to learn from the British-American experience, which failed to secure Israel and opened fire at its ships in the Red Sea.

He considered increased coordination with Yemen alone as the guarantee for protecting navigation and dispelling any concerns of any country regarding it.

These developments come just two days before the official deployment of the European military mission in the Red Sea.

The expected deployment coincides with the escalation in the pace of confrontation between Yemen and the British-American coalition countries as the decision by the Biden administration to designate Ansar Allah as a terrorist group takes effect.
