The US admitted on Sunday to targeting a Chinese oil ship off the western coast of Yemen.

The US Central Command hastened to blame Yemen for the attack, claiming that the targeting of the Chinese oil ship occurred during clashes with drones and ballistic missiles.
The American statement regarding the ship’s targeting contained several contradictions. It initially mentioned the ship being targeted during clashes with missiles and drones, then added a paragraph claiming that the ship was targeted by a fifth missile.
The statement indicated that the Chinese ship refused assistance from American warships, emphasizing that it was targeted by US forces.
This is the first time a Chinese ship has been targeted off the western coast of Yemen.
The targeting of the Chinese ship came after a widespread media campaign launched by the US, alleging an agreement between what they describe as “the Houthis,” Russia, and China, stipulating non-interference with commercial vessels for both parties in exchange for providing international cover for Yemen’s military operations against Israel.
