American threat of military escalation and re-imposition of a blockade on Yemen

The US has threatened, on Wednesday, to resume war and impose a blockade on Yemen.

This comes on the eve of its envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, beginning his tour in the region.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Lenderking, following his meeting with Omani officials, stated that the peace process in Yemen has now become impossible, threatening to cancel all progress made in previous agreements between Sana’a and Riyadh.

He considered the continuation of what he described as “Houthi attacks” in the Red, Arabian Seas, and the Gulf of Aden a threat to the return of military escalation in Yemen and the exacerbation of the suffering of citizens, hinting at the re-imposition of the blockade.

Lenderking also indicated that his country is betting on classifying those he described as “Houthis” to break the Yemeni blockade on Israel.

Lenderking’s statements come before his arrival in Saudi Arabia as part of his tour, which included the Sultanate of Oman.

Lenderking’s visit comes amidst ongoing UN efforts in the peace file in Yemen, following a Saudi request, which followed the warning of the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, warning the Saudi-Emirati coalition against the dangers of procrastination and urging them to quickly transition from the “de-escalation” phase to a comprehensive peace.

Lenderking’s statements indicate America’s opposition to any progress in the negotiations file, in the hope of preventing Yemeni operations against the Israeli occupation and its allies.
