Yemen reveals more about Mason’s targeting and its withdrawal for maintenance

Yemen revealed new details on Thursday regarding the targeting of the American destroyer “Mason,” coinciding with an announcement of its withdrawal.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Deputy Director of the Moral Guidance Department in Sana’a, Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer, hinted in a post on his social media page that the destroyer had been under continuous blockade for hours before being targeted.

Ben Amer wondered, “Has a foreign battleship been subjected to siege at sea for several hours previously?”

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced the targeting of the American destroyer Mason with a ballistic missile hours before Bin Amer’s tweet.

Bin Amer’s tweet indicates that intense confrontations erupted during attempts to lift the blockade on the American destroyer, which prompted Yemeni forces to target it with a ballistic missile.

Bin Amer’s insinuations coincide with a campaign led by Mohammed Al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, offering America to withdraw the destroyer.

Al-Houthi, in a series of tweets on his official social media page, referred to Yemen’s decision to target the destroyer, considering its presence in Yemeni waters a violation, a crime, and an act of terrorism.

He launched a hashtag under the name “#Leave_Yemen_Mason,” accompanied by a popular saying: “Be careful and do not blame.”

Since January, Yemen has been engaged in unprecedented confrontations with American and British forces, who have reinforced their battleships in the Red Sea in an attempt to break the Yemeni blockade on Israeli occupation.
