Former education minister in Israel calls for an end to the bombing of Gaza schools

In the wake of the devastating Israeli bombardment of Palestinian schools in Gaza Strip, which every time takes lives, dismemberes corpses and burns people alive, former Minister of Education, Yuli Tamir, called for an end to this shelling and the neutralization of schools.
Tamir, who was close to Yitzhak Rabin, said: “The Israeli shelling of a school in Gaza has crossed the line. We have become a distorted mirror image of our enemies. The images that spread from Gaza will haunt each and every one of us, just as the images of the massacre in the towns around Gaza, and the images of the kidnapped, are supposed to haunt any moral human being.
So too do all those who support the struggle to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state. Educational institutions are supposed to be protected and safe areas. All of us, as human beings, parents, and partners in the education system, have an interest in getting schools out of the hotbeds.”
