American-British confirmation of a ship sinking in Yemen

Britain and America confirmed on Wednesday the sinking of a ship off Yemen.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The British Reuters agency reported that an oil tanker named “Sonion” veered off near the port of Al-Hudaydah, indicating that the crew is currently assessing the damages.

On the other hand, the American Bloomberg agency quoted other sources confirming the ship’s deviation and the crew’s inability to control it, confirming its drift.

The ship, flying the Greek flag, was targeted in a missile attack off the western coast of Yemen.

According to the British Navy, three boats belonging to the Yemeni Navy intercepted the ship about 60 nautical miles west of Yemen in an attempt to inspect it, but the ship’s security crew began firing, prompting the clash.

Sources indicated that the ship attempted to maneuver to escape but came under aerial attacks thereafter.

The ship is one of several vessels that have sunk or been partially or fully damaged during Yemeni operations against Israeli navigation and ships linked to America and Britain, as well as others involved in breaking the Yemeni embargo in the Mediterranean and Red Seas since last November.

The number of ships targeted during the past months from the battle to support Gaza has exceeded 170 ships according to statements by Yemeni leaders.
