The burning of the Yemeni forces of the oil ship “Sonion” continues to stir wide controversy on social media. However, details about the recent ship’s journey indicate that the operation may have been part of the Yemeni response to the Israeli occupation’s aggression on Hudaydah.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
According to diplomatic sources, the ship flying the Greek flag was carrying a cargo of about 150,000 tons of oil. The shipment was loaded from Iraq on its way to a Greek port on the Mediterranean Sea known as “Agioi Theodoroi” before continuing towards the Israeli port of Ashdod.
According to these confirmations, the shipment was unmistakably Israeli, despite the company’s attempt to camouflage its new journey before the Yemeni forces were able to intercept it after gathering intelligence information related to the shipment’s destination.
These pieces of information align with what activists close to the Ansar Allah movement, the “Al-Houthis,” have begun to disclose, hinting that the ship’s targeting was in retaliation for the occupation’s attack on the port of Hudaydah.
According to them, what the ship was carrying was much larger than the oil that was in the Hudaydah tanks, which were bombed several weeks ago by the occupation’s air force with Western and American support.
The ship “Sonion” may be one of several ships targeted by the Yemeni forces, surpassing 180 ships, some of which were completely sunk and others severely damaged. However, the ship’s burning, which has been illuminating the region’s passages for days, indicates that it has a larger dimension than just an operation and is intended as a response to statements by the occupation that the Hudaydah ports are ablaze following the attack.
