WHO: 15,000 children in Gaza suffer from malnutrition

The World Health Organization said that thousands of children in Gaza suffer from the risk of severe malnutrition, after discovering that about 15,000 children are suffering from malnutrition.

The organization explained in a statement that among these are 3,288 children suffering from severe malnutrition, after examining about 240,000 children in the sector since the beginning of this year.

It indicated that it supports 4 facilities working in the field of treating malnutrition, including a center in the Martyr Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the sector.

A medical source in Kamal Adwan Hospital said that up to now, we have counted about 5,000 children, and a third of the cases have symptoms of malnutrition.

It pointed out that 25% of these cases did not undergo intensive treatment to classify them as malnutrition with complications.

It added, “The influx of cases with their complications means that this is a station before death.”
