Ongoing challenges undermine relief and hunger efforts in Gaza

The intensity of the conflict in Gaza and the limited number of affected border crossings and roads are severely hampering WFP’s operations as residents live in an ever-shrinking space and are repeatedly displaced under evacuation orders, WFP said.

Over the past two months, WFP said, amid ongoing catastrophic hunger, it has been forced to reduce the contents of food parcels in Gaza as aid flows decline and supplies dwindle.

With the opening of two, or sometimes three, border crossings, nearly half of the food aid needed entered Gaza in July July, and this is expected to be repeated this month, WFP said.

The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned of the state of war-ravaged routes used by WFP to transport food aid inside Gaza. The craters of shells and debris make driving on those roads slow and difficult for truck drivers, he said.
