The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, confirmed that the occupation’s continued prevention of fuel from entering the Gaza Strip aims to destroy the health sector in all hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
Abu Safiya said in a press statement on Tuesday that most of the injured who are transferred to the hospital turn into martyrs due to poor medical services. Medical staff have detected diseases that are foreign to the Gaza Strip that doctors have been unable to diagnose due to a lack of medical equipment, he said.
Abu Safiya pointed out that the polio virus, Abu Safiya explained, that the virus is spreading rapidly and there are cases in the Gaza Strip, but the necessary equipment is not available to conduct the necessary laboratory tests to confirm and treat the matter.
He stressed that all the factors that contribute to the spread of viruses are present, including unclean water and sewage that fills the streets.
He stressed that the vaccines adopted by international institutions as the only treatment to get out of this crisis “do not exist.”
Earlier this month, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an “immediate truce” to facilitate a major polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip, especially after the first child was detected infected.
